Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Directors

Sunday 15 April 2012

 

Prehn Dental Office 2nd Floor Meeting Room, Wausau

 

Board members/Officers present:

The meeting was called to order at 18:15 CDT by President KC9NW. 

 

Secretary’s Report: K9DB

  • Minutes of the last meeting of 13 March 2012 were previously emailed to the board and were approved as presented.

 

Treasurer’s Report: N9ATQ

N9ATQ was absent but sent in his report via email:

  • The only outstanding bill is for the Wisconsin State Corporation form which I just received this last week ($10).  Checkbook currently says $183.02.

Rib Mountain Systems:

146.22/.82 Repeater

  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.

 

449.3/444.3 Repeater:

  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.

 

New Controller:

  • No outstanding technical issues
  • No reconfigurations since the last meeting.

 

Brighton Repeater:

  • No outstanding technical issues.
  • K9PT will check the UPS batteries on his next visit.

 

Coloma Repeater

  • No outstanding technical issues or changes.

 

 

D-STAR Systems

  • Systems are working well. No major issues other than some minor operational interference and an unacknowledged user.

 

Newsletter

  • K9DB reported that he distributed the March 2012 edition of Telemetry on March 23rd.  He received about eight requests to be placed on the subscription list, including from the Milwaukee and Madison areas.

  • K9DB also reported he is working on the June 2012 edition. Articles will include an overview of the Coloma system, the K9JPS Memorial HF station on Rib Mountain, and a guest article on Sarcoma by Rich Nesbitt N9MO.

 

RMRA Web Site:     

  • KC9LFG has investigated some new design elements.

 

New Business:

 

  • K9DB presented a proposal that would establish a policy for ads in Telemetry.

The proposal was approved. It is included with these minutes as addendum 1.

 

 

Board Member Round Table:

 

  • K9DB announced that on May 20th, the date of the May board meeting, there will be a partial solar eclipse at sundown.
  • By consensus the board agreed to meet at an hour early at 17:00 CDT.

 

 

 

Meeting adjourned 19:35 CDT.

Addendum 1

Telemetry Advertising Policies and Rates

 

General:

 

  • Ads shall be placed at the discretion of the editor and/or the RMRA Board of Directors.

 

  • The decision of the Board of Directors regarding placement and content shall be final. The board shall review all ads and ad content before the publication of each issue.

 

  • All ad content must be professional in nature, meet common standards of decency, and be in good taste.

 

Rates:

 

Beginning with the June 2012 edition:

  • The rate for a six to nine column inch ad shall be $20 per year (four or more issues) or $10/issue.
  • The rate for a full page ad shall be $40 per year or $20/issue.

 

Member, Gratis, and In-Kind Ads:

 

  • An RMRA member in good standing shall be entitled to one ad per issue at no charge for his/her personal business.
  • A non-member may purchase an ad or join the RMRA and be entitled to the same ad. The number of ads per year shall be pro-rated to match the pro-rated dues in the member's first year.
  • In-kind ads may be placed in return for services or materials donated to the RMRA. e.g.: Prehn Dental, Northway Communications.
  • Gratis ads may be placed for charitable or non-profit groups or events that have Amateur Radio associations. e.g.: Cancer Relay for Life, Little Bull Falls Log Jam.
  • Reciprocal gratis ads may be placed for other Amateur Radio clubs' events. e.g.: swapfests, testing sessions.
  • Candidate or political issue ads must be purchased. Exception: Issue oriented ads may be placed gratis if the issue is directly related to the welfare of Amateur Radio. e.g.: Legislation regarding Broadband over Power Lines.

 

Additional:

 

  • Any issue not covered by the above policies shall be determined by the Board of Directors.
