RMRA Becomes Part of the
Internet Radio Linking Project
By accessing the IRLP network through the RMRA 443.30 MHz Repeater, Central Wisconsin Amateurs can now literally talk around the world using nothing more than a hand-held radio.

The Internet Radio Linking Project is one of the most elaborate marriages of Amateur Radio repeaters and computer/internet technology to date.

A decicated computer has been set up to run the IRLP software under the Linux operating system. The RMRA/Internet interface is physically located at Rich Maier KC9NW's QTH via cable TV modem connection.

Ivan Andrewjeski, KB9RFB completed the computer hardware and software installation Friday August 24. An e-mail to the IRLP Canadian ham and Australian ham confirmed the software installation on Sunday night. The Australian Ham (time zone is 14 hrs ahead of Central Time) used the internet to finish up the installation via remote control, sort of like using a PC Anywhere program. Sunday evening Dean Andrewjeski K9PT and KB9RFB played with the computer to listen in on the Denver reflector (REF 2) to Amateur conversations from Florida, Canada, Denver, Las Vegas, California, Australia, and New York. The audio is very clear.

Later on Monday and Tuesday K9PT worked stations around the USA and Canada.
