Proposed WEM EOC Ham Shack Activation Plan

DRAFT copy of the WEM EOC Radio Room (Ham Shack) Activation Plan

The below DRAFT copy of the WEM EOC Radio Room (Ham Shack) Activation Plan
is forwarded for your review and corrections/suggestions/comments. Please
note the frequency changes. The primary reason for using 40 meters during
the and 80 meters at night is the poor coverage of 80 meters during the day.
Many stations in Wisconsin cannot contact the WEM hamshack on 80 meters but
can easily do so on 40 meters. In the event of an emergency, it is only
practical that we use the frequency that ensures the best probability on
maintaining contact with as many stations as possible in Wisconsin. While
many hams do not have 40 meter capability, the problem can be resolved with
a 40 meter dipole or 40 meter vertical. With the world in flux, it is best
that we be prepared to operate as efficiently as possible. Please
distribute this message to the members of your organizations and any other
hams that may participate in the event of an emergency. Thanks for your
cooperation.
