ARES / RACES / SKYWARN / RED CROSS 145.610 MHz packet network
The ARES / RACES / SKYWARN / RED CROSS 145.610 MHz packet network is expanding. One of the best places to keep track of the nodes that are maintained by Len Kreyer N9QIP, is to check: http://userpages.itis.com/n9qip/guide.html. The packet network is for supporting ARES / RACES / SKYWARN / RED CROSS during emergencies, severe weather events, traffic relating to these groups, and for these groups to use for training/drills/exercise in preparation to respond to an emergency. Training should cease in the event of an actual emergency in the state in order to avoid interference with emergency traffic. ARES / RACES / SKYWARN / RED CROSS groups are encouraged to use but not abuse these assets. Lack of use may result in their elimination. BBS to BBS traffic will be transmitted using the packet backbone network. Following is a list of packet nodes on 145.610: Madison ARWEM (MSYS BBS is WC9AAG (WEMBBS)) Wisconsin Emergency Management Madison ARC (K-Node, pbbs is W9JZ-1) American Red Cross Sun Prairie ARSUNP (N9PQK-11) Waterloo ARWLOO (N9IDH-11) Sullivan ARSUL (MSYS BBS is MX9MKX (WXBBS)) National Weather Service Poynette #BOO2 (KB9AP-2) Green Lake ARGLK (KB9WC-11) Germantown WIGTA (KB9OK-7) Waukesha WIWSH (WB9SMM-4) Stevens Point WISP (N9WBR-8) Fond du Lac ARFOND (N9QIP-10) Baraboo ARBOO (N9ROY-11) Port Washington WIPWSH (N9PBY-2 (MSYS BBS is N9PBY)) Hollandale WINSW (N9QIP-8) (Should be in service sometime today) If anyone is aware of any other nodes on 145.610, please send a message with the node data. 73 de Mack N9NTB WEM Amateur Radio Liaison/ State Ham Shack Manager
