NASA announced this week that it had secretly awarded the RMRA a $3.5 billion grant to engineer and construct the first Amateur Radio repeater system on Mars. The repeater was stowed onboard and subsequently deployed by the Spirit rover. Fittingly, entertainer Charo performed at the dedication ceremonies at the Columbia Hills site near Gusev Crater.
