(formerly WD5ITP)

Pat Giese of Plymouth Wisconsin, formerly of Wausau, was a member of Sheboygan County ARC and a Volunteer Examiner. He was first licensed in the mid-70's following a WVRA sponsored Novice class taught at University of Wisconsin Marathon County by the late Frank Burt WB9EJE and Paul Nelles K9DB. He earned his amateur extra license in 2007.

Pat was born April 2, 1943, in Little Rock, Ark., a son of Audara Smits Giese and the late James E. Giese. He spent the later part of his childhood in Rothschild, graduating from D.C. Everest High School in 1961.

He served in the U.S. Army being honorably discharged in 1970. He earned bachelor's degrees in economics and business administration from the UW Stevens Point. At the time of his initial licensing, he was employed by Wausau Insurance in data processing. Pat retired from Kohler Company in 2006, where he worked since 1985.

He and his wife, Connie, raised three children. At the time of his death they had two grandchildren.

Patrick's interests and hobbies were varied and followed the continuum of life. In his earlier years he competed in high school football, basketball and baseball. He participated in softball leagues for the majority of his adult life. Pat was an avid (speedy) reader throughout life. In his latter years, in addition to Amateur Radio, he enjoyed golfing, tending to his tomato garden, cooking, and woodworking.

He died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee from complications following a remarkable and courageous fight with a blood disorder.
